Science
My work in science has always centered on curiosity, experimentation, and the intersection of biology and human health.

Research
I first explored research at the Smith College Precollege Program, I conducted novel bacteriophage studies under Professor Torquato, and at the Pioneer Academics Program under Professor Esteban, I developed a grant proposal on the gut microbiome’s role in estrogen metabolism and breast cancer. Alongside this research, I attended Jiahui Hospital’s Youth Internship, rotating across Pediatrics, Surgery, and Pharmacy. As a five-year volunteer there, I helped coordinate hospital-wide events such as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and World AIDS Day, promoting community education and patient support.
I later became a two-year intern at the Shanghai CSW & MSM Center for STDs, assisting with free testing, counseling, and public health outreach programs. These experiences deepened my passion for molecular biology and public health, showing me how science extends beyond the lab into human connection.
ISEF
At Shanghai American School, I conducted independent lab research for the Shanghai International School Science and Engineering Fair (SISSEF) on photosynthesis and cellular biology before advancing to a collaborative project on triple-negative breast cancer with Maja Mazzocca, titled “Copper Depletion with Mitochondria-Targeting Nanoparticles Prevents Metastasis of TNBC”.
Studying how copper depletion influences cancer cell viability our team ran successful trials of a novel nanoparticle treatment preventing metastasis. Our team reached the China Finals at Sichuan of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
